Jurnal Anestesi Obstetri Indonesia (JAOI) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal dedicated to advancing knowledge, research, and clinical practice in obstetric anesthesia, maternal perioperative medicine, and critical care. The journal provides an international platform for the dissemination of high-quality scientific evidence, innovative clinical approaches, and relevant scientific developments that contribute to improving maternal safety and outcomes.

JAOI welcomes original research and scholarly contributions from clinical, translational, and biomolecular fields relevant to obstetric anesthesia and maternal critical care. The journal encourages submissions that demonstrate scientific rigor, methodological transparency, clinical relevance, and meaningful contributions to evidence-based practice.

The journal's scope includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

1. Obstetric Anesthesia and Analgesia: Anesthetic management for cesarean delivery and other obstetric procedures, neuraxial and general anesthesia, labor analgesia, and perioperative pain management.

2. Maternal Critical Care: Recognition and management of critically ill obstetric patients, maternal organ dysfunction, intensive care, and multidisciplinary approaches to maternal emergencies.

3. High-Risk Pregnancy and Perioperative Medicine: Anesthetic considerations in preeclampsia, eclampsia, obstetric hemorrhage, cardiac disease, obesity, and other maternal comorbidities.

4. Maternal Safety and Clinical Outcomes: Patient safety, quality improvement, risk assessment, perioperative complications, morbidity, mortality, and strategies to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes.

5. Obstetric Pharmacology and Biomolecular Research: Pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug safety, biomarkers, molecular mechanisms, and translational research relevant to obstetric anesthesia and maternal critical care.

6. Clinical Monitoring and Technological Innovation: Hemodynamic monitoring, point-of-care ultrasound, airway management, simulation-based training, and emerging technologies in obstetric anesthesia and critical care.

7. Evidence Synthesis and Clinical Guidelines: Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, evidence-based clinical recommendations, and critical appraisal of current practices in obstetric anesthesia and maternal critical care.

8. Education, Ethics, and Health Systems: Clinical education, ethical issues, multidisciplinary collaboration, healthcare delivery, and implementation of evidence-based practices in maternal care.

JAOI considers the following manuscript types: original research articles, case reports and case series with significant educational or clinical value, narrative and systematic literature reviews, meta-analyses, and letters to the editor addressing relevant scientific discussions.

Manuscripts must be original, scientifically sound, ethically conducted, and not previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal. Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical standards and include appropriate ethical approval and informed consent, where required. Reports of clinical trials and other study designs must follow relevant reporting guidelines.

JAOI welcomes submissions from researchers and clinicians worldwide. Through rigorous peer review and responsible editorial practices, the journal aims to support the advancement of obstetric anesthesia and maternal critical care research and its translation into clinical practice.

Section Policies

Peer Review Process

The submitted manuscript is first reviewed by an editor. Every submitted manuscript which pass this step will be reviewed by two or three reviewers (double blind peer-review). These manuscript will be sent to the reviewer anonymously. Reviewers comment are then sent to corresponding author to take the necessary actions and responses. The decision of the revised manuscript will be then evaluated in editorial board meeting, the final decision of whom are sent to the corresponding author.

Publication Frequency

Jurnal Anestesi Obstetri Indonesia (JAOI) is published three times a year, in March, July, and November, by the Indonesian Society of Obstetric Anesthesia and Critical Care (INA-SOACC).

Each issue contains approximately 8–10 peer-reviewed articles, subject to editorial assessment and the availability of manuscripts that meet the journal's scientific and editorial standards.
